SPORT & REMEDIAL MASSAGE
JESSICA ARMAH - SPORT & REMEDIAL MASSAGE SPECIALIST
Jessica has worked in the equine industry for over 14 years with a range of disciplines from riding club horses to polo ponies. This gave her the knowledge of the stress caused on the body by horse riding and the importance of core and overall body strength to maintain position. She competes as a 200m sprinter for Windsor, Slough Eton and Hounslow Athletic Club and works there as a therapist, looking after the women's team at competitions. Jess previously completed several half marathons before switching to sprinting and competed in the 200m at the British Championships in 2018, finishing the season ranked number 1 in the UK for her age in the 100m and 200m.
Jess has a wealth of experience regarding all aspects of fitness, training and massage. She is a qualified personal trainer, British Athletics Coach, British Weightlifting Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coach in addition to her soft tissue therapy, taping and strapping and sports first aid qualifications. She is also qualified to offer remedial stone therapy and seated acupressure massage. Jess also offers medical acupuncture as part of all her treatments.
We have the pleasure of welcoming Jess and her treatments to Nilosa in the salon on selected Saturdays each month.
SPORTS & REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY
Soft Tissue and Remedial massage is a high level of treatment. The aim is to treat all minor and chronic injuries whether caused through sport or any other lifestyle factor, using massage and other more advanced techniques. It also aims to identify the underlying causes of injury and offer more long term improvements in physical well being and injury prevention.
As part of your treatment, Jess may include taping and strapping - rigid strapping to fix and support joints and flexible tape such as kinesiology tape to support muscles whilst maintaining full range of movement or Dry Needling - also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling, designed to relieve tightness and pain in muscles. Inserting a needle directly into a knot or pressure point can release tension in the surrounding muscle. If required, these are included in the treatment price.
